BCS Renaissance Awards 2025 – nominations open

We are pleased to announce Birmingham Civic Society Renaissance Awards for 2025 are open for nominations. The awards are to celebrate the best in conservation and restoration, where a building in distress has been rejuvenated, protecting the buildings’ legacy for the City of Birmingham.

The Birmingham Civic Society’s Renaissance Award recognises the most successful conservation projects completed in the city, be it the restoration of a building, public space, or structure. As the redevelopment continues in the city with the demolition of existing buildings, we believe it is important to applaud where buildings have been repurposed and restored.

The awards are open for any project completed from 1st November 2024 to 28th November 2025.

The award appreciates and values a variety of projects. Over the past eight years, we have seen over sixty projects nominated across the city; everything from a pub, to a coffin-fitting factory and the re-purposing of a Bank.

Please forward your suggestions for any significant building, structure or public space that was once derelict, vacant or under-used which has been brought back to life.
