About Me

I am a proud Brummie and have worked in Birmingham’s charity sector for over 9 years, having previously worked in the corporate sector after graduating from university. I am Head of Health and Social Care at Birmingham Voluntary Service Council (BVSC), the primary infrastructure organisation for Birmingham’s voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) sector. Working in partnership with the health and care system and VCFSE sector, projects within my team focus on reducing inequalities experienced by our communities, improving health outcomes and enabling change through integrated working across sectors. Alongside my role, I have also been a Partner Governor for Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust for almost 6 years.

In 2018 I joined the Birmingham Civic Society’s Citizenship Committee, and soon after became a Trustee, contributing from my experience and insights from working with Birmingham’s VCFSE sector in supporting our communities. I am very passionate about making a difference to the people of Birmingham and how this is achieved through the incredible and impactful role of organisations such as the civic society. So much has been achieved in over 100 years through the many volunteers and project leads of the society who have driven forward fantastic initiatives; celebrating and protecting Birmingham’s heritage, green spaces, public art, consulting on many planning applications and involving young people through active citizenship.

In addition, the extremely valuable support and participation that members contribute to the society is all that made me want to join. In November 2023, I became Chair of the Board of Trustees and have been working closely with Trustees with a renewed focus for the society and very much looking forward to continuing the journey.
